01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

Perched on the 10th floor of Chiyoda Ward Office, Dining Kudan functions as the government employees' cafeteria while remaining completely open to the general public. Expansive high-floor windows look out toward the greenery of Kitanomaru Park, creating a bright, spacious setting for a mid-day meal.

Home-Style Mansai Curry and Diverse Curry Options

A perennial favorite is the Mansai Curry, loaded with chunky cuts of potato and carrot. Mildly spiced with a comforting, home-style richness, it delivers plenty of volume. The lineup also features a fragrant katsu curry topped with a crisp cutlet and a plant-based keema curry, allowing diners to choose whatever suits their appetite that day.

Limited Edo Castle Helmet Tendon and Daily Sets

At lunchtime, the standout specialty is the Edo Castle Helmet Tendon, limited to 10 servings per 1 day. Pumpkin tempura is arranged in the shape of a samurai helmet, surrounded by a delicate egg sauce designed to evoke the imperial palace moat; diners can select either white rice or a sixteen-grain blend. Meanwhile, rotating A, B, and C daily lunch sets come accompanied by side dishes and miso soup for a comforting, straightforward noon meal.

Self-Service Dining from Breakfast to Evening

On weekdays, the cafeteria opens at 8:00 with a breakfast set of rice, miso soup, natto, raw egg, seasoned nori seaweed, and a small side dish. Ordering is entirely self-service: purchase a ticket from the automated machine and pick up your tray at the counter, with transit IC cards accepted for payment. During lunch, popular items can begin selling out after 13:00, so arriving slightly early is recommended if you have a specific dish in mind.
